Bio/Description

Anushree Malik was a Fulbright-Kalam (Climate) Academic & Professional Excellence Scholar in the lab, where her work focused on studying algal-bacterial communities in porous media. She is permanently affiliated with Centre for Rural Development & Technology, IIT Delhi as an Institute Chair Professor. She obtained her master's degree in Environmental Sciences followed by PhD in Environmental Biotechnology from IIT Delhi, performed postdoctoral research as a JSPS fellow at Utsunomiya University, Japan, and then joined IIT Delhi in 2004. Her group (Applied Microbiology Lab) works in the broad area of biological waste treatment, algal biorefineries, and resource recovery. She is the recipient of the India Innovation Growth Program Award, BRSI Fellow Award, Applied Research Award, and was recognized as being one of the TOP 75 Women in STEAM by the Government of India.

Anushree grew up in remote parts of Central India and travelled to many countries as part of research collaborations. In her free time, she likes to write poems and listen to music.
